Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Protsahan Yojana

On 17th August 2016, this scheme was announced by the Indian Government. This scheme provides incentives to employers for creating new job opportunities. Suppose any employer/establishment is registered with EPFO. In that case, he has to contribute 12% towards social security schemes designed by EPFO which comprises 8.33% of EPS (Employees’ Pension Scheme) and 3.67% of EPF (Employees Provident Fund). Under this scheme, if an employer hires a new employee, the government will provide these contributions to the EPF and EPS.

Earlier the government used to only contribute towards 8.33% of the EPS. But after the new reforms were made in the scheme, now the government is contributing the total 12% that is 3.67% EPF and 8.33% EPS. The important thing is that only new employees will be benefited under this scheme having a unique Universal Account Number (UAN). 

Benefits of Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Protsahan Yojana

As we can see, there is a word protsahan in the name of this scheme which gives us an idea of the scheme. The word protsahan in Hindi means of encouragement, which is what this scheme is providing for creating new jobs.

This scheme has double benefits. First, it is providing incentives to employers for hiring new employees and growing their businesses. Second, it is, therefore helping in generating employment opportunities. Everything is online without humans’ interference, which provides extra security that the benefits are delivered to the targeted needy people. 

It provides social security benefits to the employees working in the organised sector.

Objective of PMRPY

As explained earlier, the main objective of the scheme is the creation of employment. It will encourage employers to hire new workers who will help bring down the unemployment rate and help improve the country’s economy. 

Eligibility 

  • The establishments should be registered with EPFO as per the 1952 EPF Act and should have Labour Identification Number (LIN).
  • Till date today, only, permanent Indian residents are eligible for taking advantage of this scheme.
  • Employees are required to be linked to Aadhar UAN.
  • Employee salary should be Rs.15000 or less.

How to apply for Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Protsahan Yojana?

1.First of all, you need to go to the official website, and when the homepage appears in front of you, you have to go to the link to apply.

3.Start filling the application form and enter all the information asked.

4.Then attach the important documents required and after completing everything, select the submit button.

How to login to the PMRPY portal?

  1. When you visit the official website of Pradhanmantri Rojgar Protsahan Yojana, you will find an option called login on the website’s home screen.
  2. Select login and then it will ask you for PF/LIN code and the password.
  3. Enter the details and then hit on the sign-in button and in this way you will be able to sign in.

According to the data from its launch date to 15th January 2019, around 1.24 lakh establishments have been provided incentives under this scheme. More than crore employees were benefited from this scheme and were enrolled with EPFO under the PMRPY scheme. Here is the breakdown of the 1 crore employees who benefited:

  • During 2016-17 – 33031
  • During 2017-18 – 3027612
  • During 2018-19 – 6949436
